• Posters provide an opportunity for an informal presentation to conference attendees. Presenting a poster is also a good way in which to discuss and receive feedback on a work in progress that has not been fully developed into a paper. Poster presentations at ISIC2020 will be competitive and if your proposal is accepted, your poster will be displayed in a poster session during the conference. At least one author for each accepted poster must register for and attend the conference since you will be expected to present your poster at the time set aside for poster presentations.
  • Preparing your poster proposal
  • The format for a poster proposal should follow the general guidelines for full and short papers regarding layout, font, references, abstract, etc. The poster should be prepared as a .doc or .docx file but submitted as a .pdf.
  • • Please, limit your proposal for the poster to 2 pages. Please use the ISIC 2020 template as guideline.
  • You must include the following:
  • • Author(s): name, institution, email address – indicate that it will be provided, but do not provide the detail at this stage. Poster proposals undergo blind review, so this information should be included only after acceptance.
  • • Short title.
  • • Abstract: a short description of your poster (max. 200 words).
  • • Problem statement / research question & sub-questions.
  • • Significance and relevance of the topic (please, explain why the topic is significant).
  • • Content: a description of the expected content of the poster.
  • • Recommendations (only if applicable).
  • • Conclusion.
  • • Before submission please save your paper with the name of the title / part of the title; NOT the author name(s) and NOT ISIC2020 only.
  • • Authors whose native language is not English are encouraged to have their manuscripts read by a native English-speaking colleague, or professionally edited, before submission.
  • • All proposals should be submitted to the EasyChair ISIC2020 submission system. You will be required to submit as a .pdf.
  • • A list of the poster titles and authors will be included in the conference program. Poster proposals are not published in Information Research.
  • • If you have any questions or comments concerning the poster submission please feel free to contact us at isic2020@up.ac.za
  • Revision of a poster
  • You will receive feedback from at least two reviewers. If reviewers request revision it is important to adhere to requests, or where appropriate, explain why it is not possible or preferable. Please use this table when submitting a revised version of your paper so that it is clear to reviewers and the ISIC2020 organisers how you adhered to feedback.
  • Preparing the poster
  • After the poster proposal is accepted you will be instructed to limit the size of the poster to 70 (width) x 110 (height) cm.
  • The conference organisers will provide appropriate boards, etc. to display your poster.
  • Final decisions on acceptance in the conference programme will be made by the ISIC2020 Chair of the Local Organising Committee and the ISIC Standing Committee Chair Officers:
  • Ina Fourie (Chair, ISIC2020 Committee; Secretary, ISIC Steering Committee): ina.fourie@up.ac.za
  • Heidi Julien (Chair, ISIC Steering Committee): heidijul@buffalo.edu
  • Ian Ruthven (Vice-Chair, ISIC Steering Committee): ian.ruthven@strath.ac.uk
